Well, today is peachy. I was "let go" by the California Wolf Center because of unexpected financial issues. I will contact them again in six months, as suggested, to try and work something out (as long as their finances are good). I can understand them turning me down - my art isn't the best in the world, plus financial issues with a wolf refuge are expected. Yet, they come unexpected. So, I'll be moving on and in December I will contact them again. But, during those six months, you will see my originals being displayed in Mission: Wolf's visitor center, and will also be up for sale.
In the future, I will be donating 50% of all my independant commission earnings to these two centers (each getting 25%). Of course, this is when I get on my feet with my art supplies (getting the ones I need and replacing current broken and empty ones). I will also, soon, be displaying flyers and brochures locally to sell my art. You can now get a portrait of a loved one (or pet) drawn, make a special order, or buy existing prints. I will be working with my current photographs to make examples. More than likely, all portraits will be done in graphite. I don't like the results of skin tones with colored pencils and paints of any sort. The tone is much better with graphite.
Also, I am planning to open a bi-monthly Newsletter for artists and artists-to-be. It will include tutorials, tips, articles, and contests/polls. For single issues it will cost $5, and for a one-year subscription it will cost $10. I also plan to take a booth in Newport, Indiana during the Newport Antique Hillclimb, holding prints and a special order booklet. More than likely, though, I will have a portfolio of my current artwork and have an order form for those interested.
In other news. I will be attending the National Powwow XIV, and I would love to meet any fellow artists, fans, or just someone who'd like to say "hey." I also wouldn't mind drawing with these people or making sketches for them, either.
Much love, and happy birthday America.
First of all, thank you for even viewing this FreeWebs page.
I am currently holding a sale on my commissions. You can view this journal entry on DeviantART for more information, or this forum entry on DeviantART. All of the money earned will go to a cause for my mother.
Also, I will be attending (but not participating in) the National Powwow XIV. If you're going to be there, e-mail me and let me know. I won't mind someone approaching me at all, and I want to meet some artists and photographers while I'm there! This year, it's at the Vermilion County Fairgrounds in Danville/Oakwood, Illinois, and will be held July 9-12.
As for now, I have also found work with Mission: Wolf (In Colorado) and the California Wolf Center (in Julian, California). I plan to visit each one soon, and will update you if that happens, as well.
As for now, I hope that I can get commissions for my mother's aid. Until then!
